= tool for generating form arranging images, and organizing, information
= can work quietly in the background, or it can assert itself as an active element, make objects aligned
-       modernismàgrids
-      post modernismàbreaking the grids

multicolumn grid
= gutters are lines in between
= margins are lines on the borders
= provide flexible formats for publication
More columns you create, more flexible your grids become
= a text or image can span several. Not all the space has be filled
= think about a hierarchy, write about that

Hang line
= in addition to creating vertical zones with the columns of the grid, you can also divide the page horizontally.
= text looks like its hanging below it

Stacking line
= text on top of the line

Hierarchy
= in every communication, some messages will be more vital then others
= you control how the readers read your design, direct them

Modular grid
