[CORONAVIRUS] IDEAS+ POSSIBLE OUTCOMES

Being an Asian student studying in the UK, I could say that there is a big cultural difference when it comes to preventing ourselves from the virus infection. People in the UK, might not have experienced serious infectious diseases and this might be the main reason why their way of prevention is so different from Asians and that their awareness of the seriousness of the virus is low comparatively to Asians. This might cause the locals thinking that Asians are overreacting to the virus when they wear masks on the streets in some cases. And therefore causing cases of racism.

Therefore, I would like to raise awareness of the seriousness of the virus among locals. The aim is not only to help each other from having lower chance to get infected, but also helping the issue of racism.

racism? xenophobia? why?

some people tend to focus on the root of the virus, blaming Chinese of spreading the disease everywhere around the world, however, the main issue is the fact that the virus is now right in front of them and that what they should do is to prevent themselves and people around from getting infected. Other than keep thinking about who brought in the virus, they should focus on what is currently happening.

**It’s important to share the facts with others to stop the spread of false information.

POSSIBLE OUTCOMES

  • flyers
  • labels on disinfecting and sanitising supplies

THINKING PROCESS
  • what if people are not even getting prepared and have no intension in buying these supplies?
  • how do I make people getting well prepared for the outbreak? where should the design be put on to maximise its exposure?
  • what are the things that most people would get in contact with in their daily lives? doors? train stations?
  • where are the germmiest places?
**places that most people would get in contact with (high population) = germmiest places, highest chance of infection **

posters, banners, advertisements (with news and data of cases of the virus to make people higher the sense of crisis)
