(SB1) EMBOSSING INDUCTION

soak paper into water
  • cartridge (thin) takes shorter 30secs-1min
  • might break if soaked too longer
  • dun want it wet want it damp
  • put paper btwn two blotters
  • roll over it to get excess water out
  • repeat process if still too wet
  • until the paper looks matte
  • presser
  • put a tissue paper on the registration sheet to keep clean
  • put the plate first then the damp paper on top
  • force pushes down the the paper onto plate
  • never use metal as plates
I was really confused about the difference between embossing and debossing. Both of them are the product of stressing pressure on a piece of damp paper. Then, I saw these two samples. These two products clearly showed me the difference between embossing and debossing.

Embossing is basically pushing the positive spaces upwards and making the shapes that you wanted to stand out from the paper. While debossing means to push down the the shapes onto the paper and make the shapes indented into the sheet. In order to do both, we use different kinds of mould.

The following mould would be used as embossing.

This mould would be used as debossing.

This is the debossing outcome that I made. As I was really confused, I didn't know that what I was doing is actually debossing, therefore, I do not have a embossing product.
