(SB2) INITIAL IDEAS

APP (inspired by an existing dog walking app)

  1. Meditating navigation app for users to discover new places around their current locations. The places would be some recommended open green spaces for them to hang around and chill. Users can pin spots that they have discovered onto the map and other users would be able to look at each others’ pinned spots. This is to create a community where people could continuously discover new places to have a quick city escape.

MY THOUGHTS
This idea seems to be really user friendly. However, I realised that there are actually a lot of similar existing designs already. It would be a bit lame and boring, and. I would like to try something more innovative and fun to look at.

WEBSITE
  1. This idea is a digital version of the publication. Putting images of the nunnery and the city at the centre. Click on the images to turn form city images to the nunnery images. Click again to turn it back to a city image. This communicates the concept of a quick city escape where by only a click, audiences would be brought to a tranquil place away from the city. The text will also move as you click on the images to communicate the idea of looping. (instead of only images of the nunnery, images of traditional architecture could be replaced)
  2. Instead of a city escape, the concept is a life escape. Nostalgia, reminiscing the past would be the way of escaping life. Have audiences upload their childhood pictures on the website. Same concept as 1. click to turn back in time. This idea would be more personal to each audience.
  3. Focus on a specific generation. Put images of their common childhood memories at the centre. (cartoons, games, website aesthetic, etc) This is a modified version of 2, which would be less alike to Facebook. However, only that particular generation of people would resonate with the whole concept. The target audience might not be broad enough.
  4. Taking the idea of contrasting the old times and the present, the idea of adding in elements of the ongoing protest in Hong Kong was suggested. As the movement have been ongoing for 6 months, most of the younger generations would resonate with the topic. Using before and after images of places being destroyed due to the protest would be more relevant to most of the Hong Kongers nowadays. (The idea of using the Hong Kong protest as the main theme was being further developed)
