What are the symptoms?
Symptoms of homesickness include:
However, it makes me think of what is the exact meaning of home?
Home = literally our home, where we live.
It could also be a feeling of attachment, the sense of belonging. The inner feeling of being attached to someone, something, a place, or even a memory. It could be anything that makes you feel safe, comfortable, and secure. (where happiness is)
After doing a while of research, I realised that being homesick is actually closely related to the feeling of being nostalgic. I then looked up the exact meaning of nostalgia. It is actually being defined as a state of being homesick. Both of them has the element of yearning for and reminiscing the past. The past could be a memory of an object, a person, or a place.
As I myself is experiencing serious homesickness, I can guarantee that the research the I have done is very true. The overwhelmed feeling of emptiness, although it sounds contradicting, feeling both emptied and overwhelmed, but it is very true. The feeling of being separated from "home" and nonstop reminiscing past memories that make me feel secure and safe.
