METHOD OF OVERLAPPING AND OVERPRINTING
overprinting is a good way to add breadth into designs. It also helps pulling ideas together into one image. It could be done by overlaying photographs or even by screenprinting.
HOW TO ALIGN DESGIN ACCURATELY WHEN SCREENPRINTING?
Leaving tracing marks at the corners would help the process of aligning designs for overprinting. I could try adding the marks using InDesign and get the positives with the marks printing for exposing so that I could make sure the alignments are right.
Apart from printing trace marks at the corner, I could use tape to act as a measuring tool to align the paper. Sticking tape in an L shape at the corner of the screenprinting machines can also help to get the alignment accurate. This is more doable than the first method as there might be a chance that marks would be accidentally printed on the paper and create unnecessary marks.
However is screenwriting fittingly theme of being digital? Which approach should be chosen? being crafty, DIYish or being digital?
This is a playful way to fold a map. It requires the act of 'opening' the map and it really suits my theme well as the maps that I will be creating would be about my habits which is something personal. The way of 'opening' the map stimulates people's sense of ownership as if it is an object that could be owned someone. With the idea of making it crafty and DIYish to make the map look even more personal, this ways of folding might work well with my theme. However, will my design be applicable to this method of folding? Will the crease marks look unrefined in the final outcome? Is it necessary to make my map playful?
Folding the map into a booklet might work for my map designs. It has 8 pages in the booklet and it might be applicable for my design. However, the outcome might not look as professional. The cut marks and the crease marks would be significant which would not be suitable for the production method of a final outcome which would be showcased in an exhibition.
As triangle is the main element of the Youtube logo, folding the map into a triangle and sticking it on a red sheet would make it physically look like the Youtube logo. However, the outcome of this folding method has 6 sections in shape of a triangle which might be a constraint for the design process as everything has to be fitted into a triangle. Also, sticking the triangle map on a paper might not be the best way of production as it might not look as refined.
USE ONLY LINES
maps all in one publication
Gathering the designs into one publication would be. good way to showcase loads of information and messages that were wished to be communicated. On the image shown, ideas were being pulled together into one small publication and this is a really smart way to present maps. Tracing paper was also used in the publication to add texture onto the publication as well as the map design itself. This shows that paper stock is also an important element of map making as it is the most direct way for audiences to 'feel' the design and to stimulate different kinds of feelings when looking at the map. Tracing paper might be too fragile for the final outcome, maybe acetate would work for applying to my design?
